About this coffee

Remember those summers spent at the Sonic Drive-In down the road, sipping on a large Cherry Limeade?...Yeah, neither do we...Well, we think this year’s crop from Santa Rosa is a cherry limeade for your more sophisticated, adult palate.

This marks the third consecutive year we’ve had the pleasure of roasting up this coffee from Santa Rosa and this year we’re bringing back Luis’s deliciously successful red honey rendition. (“Red honey” being a process by which Luis and his team dry the coffee with its mucilage left on, pile them up on drying beds, and leave them to heat up under the bright sun for a very specific amount of time and intensity, resulting in a fruity and juicy finished product.)

Revisiting coffees from old friends like Luis is always a pleasure, as we’ve come to know their care and attention to detail goes a long way to bring a delicious result to our cups at home. This coffee is fragrant with notes of vanilla, juicy like a ripe black cherry in the middle of the summer and finishes with refreshingly bright lime acidity.

Quite lovely in all methods, we prefer the two extremes: the French press or the Chemex. By being such a dynamic coffee--a really good honey processed coffee can be this way--the Santa Rosa can be wonderful in such seemingly opposing brew methods.

It’s time to leave behind the “Cherry Limeade” of your youth, pack up your belongings from your parents’ basement, and brew yourself a cup of this...in other words, grow up!

Tasting Notes

Black Cherry, Lime, Vanilla

Brewing Recommendation

This coffee shines when filter brewed: we suggest the Chemex or Kalita brewing devices. Generally, filter brewing produces better coffee clarity (ability to tell flavors apart) than body (texture, weight in your mouth) and we love this coffee's clarity.

RATIO: 16:1 (Example: 400 grams water, 25 grams coffee produces 12 ounce cup)
