About this coffee

Anybody get the feeling that Santa Claus got a little gypped when someone decided a glass of milk would sustain him? Pulling an all-nighter as he squeezes in and out of chimneys, going from cozy living rooms to cold, windy sleigh rides and we thought “Hey! A tall glass of dairy will keep him goin!” I’m here to suggest that La Peña Natural is the obvious replacement as Santa’s mid-mission-motivation.

Even with the merits of caffeine aside, based on pure flavor alone this natural process Costa Rican coffee is just what the old guy needs to keep going. La Peña, brought to you by producer Rodolfo Rivera in the Leon Cortes region of Tarrazú, is the perfect balance of berry-forward fruitiness with blackberry notes that are pleasantly present, but not overbearing. Mellow orange acidity and dark chocolate complexity enhance the creamy body of this coffee, keeping you coming back for more - and don’t we all want Santa Claus to keep coming back?

So let’s agree to think twice before pouring a tall glass of two-percent this Christmas Eve. Instead, put some pep in Santa’s step with this hug in a mug (and leave a little extra for yourself to sip on too).

This coffee shines when filter brewed: we suggest the Chemex. Generally, filter brewing produces better coffee clarity (ability to tell flavors apart) than body (texture, weight in your mouth) and we love this coffee's clarity.
