About this coffee
For Kenyan coffee farmers, the name of the game is “cooperation.” Farms in this country are small, so producers band together in small democratic organizations called “cooperatives,” which work to market and sell coffee for all farming members.
In cooperatives, a person or board is elected to be the marketing agent, whose central role it to sell the coffee for the best possible price. The main avenue for selling coffee is a national auction that attracts buyers from all over the globe looking to get their fill of coffee with fruity acidity to write home about. However, some agents are willing to sell outside of the well-attended auction if they know their buyer will pay what is fair.
This ‘outside auction’ kind of transaction typically brings a better price for the cooperative and higher quality coffee for the buyer. And that win-win situation is exactly what made possible this delightful strawberry sweet, caramel rich, sparkling (no literal bubbles, just dances skillfully on your tongue) coffee about to fill your cup. Which, we feel, makes it a win-win-win.

This coffee’s complexity really shines when filter brewed: we suggest the Chemex or Kalita Wave.
