About this coffee

Trying new coffees is a lot like putting a blindfold on and getting behind the driver’s seat. You’re trusting us as we say “Turn right. Now left. Brake for that cyclist!” all in hopes that our proverbial “directions” in the form of tasting notes and written diatribes will lead you to a delicious cup of coffee in the end. Well here’s your next leap of faith - our newest coffee from Kenya, Gichathaini.

Open up the bag and inhale the fermenty, rich nose on this coffee...but wait! You may be surprised when you take a sip and realize that it’s nothing like it seems - the taste is similar to biting into a juicy grapefruit...you know the kind, perfectly ripe so that it’s sweet with just the right amount of pleasant bitterness at the end. Grapefruit isn’t the only citrus that gets the spotlight in this coffee - you’ll also recognize the tartness of lime balanced out by the richness of caramel and a surprisingly mellow acidity.

We know this coffee sounds unpredictable, but that’s why you just have to trust us and dive into a bag...besides, have we ever steered you wrong?

This is a stunning coffee for the Chemex. Pay attention to the way it opens up and explodes in deliciousness, transforming as it cools. Drink slowly and savor.
