About this Coffee

We are always excited to welcome a coffee from our friends Luis and Oscar Mongé in Tarrazú, Costa Rica and this coffee is no exception!

The red honey process referenced in this coffee’s name involves leaving much of the mucilage (the fleshy part of the fruit) on the coffee cherries throughout the drying process - the result is a coffee with more inherent sweet and fruity notes. The challenge we want to present you with is to not judge a book by its cover...or a coffee by its red honey process.

At first taste, you’ll notice the juicy fruitiness of Finca Dragón Red Honey, bragging of its red berry characteristics.

Don’t be fooled by first impressions, though! While Finca Dragón Red Honey is a lighter bodied coffee it is rounded out by subtle notes of milk chocolate and acidity that resembles the tartness of lime.

Of course we appreciate this dynamic coffee for its sweet raspberry, cherry and strawberry fruity deliciousness, but what we love most is that it has so much more to say. Continue to check in with your taste buds as you drink, and allow it to reveal its depth and complexity. While we’re at it, let your morning coffee drinking be a little reminder of the important life lessons: not to judge based on appearances...and, as always, that life’s too short to drink bad coffee.

Brewing Recommendations

This coffee shines when filter brewed, we suggest the Chemex or Kalita brewing devices. Generally, filter brewing produces better coffee clarity (ability to tell flavors apart) than body (texture, weight in your mouth) and we love this coffee's clarity.
