About this coffee

Death By Chocolate, Tiramisu, Strawberry Shortcake...who needs dessert when you have El Quemado? We have always loved working with the Bonilla Family and the team at Exclusive Coffees and this coffee has been no different. Hailing from an unassuming hill on the side of the road in Tarrazu, Costa Rica, El Quemado is the chocolate-covered-cherry of your coffee drinking dreams.

This natural process coffee is as fruity, sweet and complex as any dessert you could ever want, with the aroma of sweet cherries, juicy acidity of papaya and the finish and richness of dark chocolate.

If you’re not a fan of naturals, don’t expect to be off-put by El Quemado though! This isn’t your average “Blueberry NutriGrain Bar” natural coffee - this is a natural for the sophisticated palate and should please tastebuds all across the board.

If you’re a French Press drinker or iced coffee brewer, El Quemado will certainly wow you with its body and round fruity notes. If you’re looking for the more nuanced qualities in this coffee, we suggest sipping on a Chemex or Kalita...either way, we recommend drinking it through your mouth.

Brewing Recommendation

This coffee shines when filter brewed: we suggest the Chemex or Kalita brewing devices. Generally, filter brewing produces better coffee clarity (ability to tell flavors apart) than body (texture, weight in your mouth) and we love this coffee's clarity.

RATIO: 16:1 (Example: 400 grams water, 25 grams coffee produces 12 ounce cup)
